Prayer at Gateway Church

Jesus teaches us that we are to "always pray and never give up" (Luke 18). It's because prayer is an essential part of relating to God and staying connected to him.  In prayer, we talk to the Lord about many things:

~ In prayer, we worship the Lord

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. Psalm 29:2

~ In prayer, we give thanks for his goodness

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. I Chronicles 16:34

~ In prayer, we maintain fellowship through repentance

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9

~ In prayer, we seek his wisdom and blessings

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." Matthew 7:7

Because of its importance, we have a variety of programs at Gateway to help you be "devoted to prayer." We urge you to join us in as many of these avenues as you find helpful.

  • Women's Prayer

A time of mutual encouragement for women through prayer is offered on Tuesdays from 1:00-1:45 in the Conference Room.

    Philemon 1:6

I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.

  • Email Prayer Updates

Gateway has a team of people who pray for urgent and weekly requests. To request prayer from this team, or to join them in receiving emailed requests, contact us at gc@gatewayweb.org.

    Ephesians 6:18

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

  • Prayer in Group Life

One of the most important contexts for prayer at Gateway is within our Grow Groups. It is in groups, more than any where else, that people will connect with you well enough to know how to pray for you every day. If you are looking for a meaningful setting to pray with others, a Grow Group is a great place to invest yourself.

    James 5:16

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
